This project had an unusual start: the clients called PLACE after they’d gutted their old farmhouse. Our first visit was to a shell with all its studs exposed. After friends alerted the clients that their builder-produced plans didn’t reflect the house they’d said they were hoping for, we produced a completely revised permit set in a few short weeks. Many critical details were worked out on site, during construction, as we designed together with the owners, general contractor, and tradespeople. It was one of the most successful construction projects we’ve been involved in.
